China's Wu sets world record in 500m qualifier

GANGNEUNG, South Korea (Reuters) - China's Wu Dajing set a world record of 39.800 seconds in qualifying for the men's Olympic 500 metres short track speed skating final on Thursday.

Wu shaved 0.137 seconds off the previous record set by American John Celski in Calgary in 2012.
