China's dynamic duo, twins Wang Liuyi and Wang Qianyi, claimed yet another gold medal for their country in artistic swimming at the World Aquatics Championships in Doha, Qatar. The sisters, aged 27, secured victory in the women's duet technical routine with an impressive score of 266.0484 points.

This latest triumph adds to their already remarkable success at the world championships, where they have amassed a total of eight gold medals throughout their career. The Wang twins previously clinched two gold medals in Doha as part of the winning group in the team acrobatic event on Sunday.

Their sterling performance was only rivaled by the outstanding display from Britain's Kate Shortman and Isabelle Thorpe, who achieved their nation's best-ever result in artistic swimming at the world championships. Shortman and Thorpe claimed the silver medal, earning themselves a score of 259.5601. Prior to this achievement, Britain's only other medal in artistic swimming at the world championships was Shortman's solo free bronze at last year's competition in Fukuoka.

Spain's Alisa Ozhogina and Iris Tio Casa secured the bronze medal with a score of 258.0333, replicating their success from the 2023 championships. Ozhogina and Tio Casa showcased their exceptional skills once again, proving themselves as a formidable duo in the artistic swimming scene.

The Wang twins returned to their dominating form in the duet technical routine after a disappointing fourth-place finish in Fukuoka. Their triumphant victory in Doha brought back memories of their success at the 2022 world championships in Budapest, where they previously won the event.

Notably absent from the competition were the reigning world champions from Japan. Despite their absence, the Wang twins left a lasting impression on the artistic swimming world with their flawless execution and synchronized movements.

Artistic swimming, which comprises a total of 11 medal-winning events at the world championships, has only two events on the Olympic program: the duet and team competitions. This showcases the increasing significance of the Wang twins' achievement, as they continue to make their mark on the international stage.

As the Wang sisters celebrate their latest triumph, their remarkable achievements serve as an inspiration to aspiring artistic swimmers worldwide. With talent, dedication, and a relentless pursuit of excellence, they have solidified their status as true icons of the sport.

The World Aquatics Championships have provided a platform for talent to shine and for nations to showcase their prowess in the water. As the competition progresses, spectators can expect more breathtaking performances and intense battles for gold, fueling the anticipation for the next wave of artistic swimming champions.
