China Central Television reported on Wednesday that China's first domestically produced aircraft carrier, Shandong, was training at sea, and showed scenes such as the launch of the warship-borne fighter jet, Shenyang J-15. It was aired as part of a special report on the National People's Congress and is believed to have been aimed at enhancing national prestige.
The footage shows the crew learning the military instructions given by President Xi Jinping during the NPC and the deputy commander of the ship saying they will strive to become an aircraft carrier that can win battles. The training area has not been revealed.
