BEIJING _ China said on Tuesday it returned an underwater U.S. drone whose seizure in the South China Sea last week drew protests from the White House and angry tweets from President-elect Donald Trump.
The Chinese Ministry of National Defense said in a statement on its official microblog that the drone was "smoothly" returned at noon in the relevant waters where the unmanned vehicle was picked up last week. Fox News reported earlier that a U.S. Navy warship, likely a guided-missile destroyer, would be present to accept the underwater drone.
