China Highlights Need to Ensure Stability of Industrial Supply Chains

What’s new: China's top seven leaders who make up the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the ruling Communist Party have urged more work to help the economy fully recover from the epidemic and to ensure the stability of industrial supply chains.

That’s according to a statement released by the Xinhua news agency after a meeting of the standing committee on Thursday on the effective implementation of regular epidemic prevention and control measures. The meeting urged continued efforts to promote the resumption of normal business activities with a focus on major industrial chains, leading enterprises and key investment projects. International cooperation should also be strengthened to ensure the stability of global industrial and supply chains, it said.

The background: The Politburo Standing Committee has been holding regular meetings on epidemic control and prevention since the coronavirus outbreak emerged in January.

The spread of the coronavirus across the globe has triggered a slump in economic activity in many countries that supply parts to China, which has caused significant problems for some Chinese companies who rely on the components to manufacture their own products.
