Chimney stack torn down as demolition of former Nottingham college site continues

Footage shows one of the chimney stacks at the former Clarendon College site in Nottingham coming down as the demolition of the facility continues. It was announced in early 2021 that the former Nottingham College site would be transformed into a secondary school.

The new facility will eventually usher in the creation of 1,200 more secondary school places in Nottingham - 240 places every year until all year groups are full. The plans came after Nottingham College moved to a new city hub and transferred ownership of the Clarendon building to LocalEd, the arms-length property company of the Department for Education.

The DfE is managing the redevelopment ahead of the school being ready for next year and demolition work at Clarendon began in August. Video footage taken on Thursday (October 20), shows significant progress being made as one of the chimney stacks is torn down.
