Chilwell man jailed after he was seen in Radford with a gun

A man has been jailed for three years following an incident involving a gun last year.

Robert Phipps, (known as Bobby) 37, of Ribblesdale Court, Chilwell was spotted with the gun on October 12 last year, in Alfreton Road, Radford .

He was found guilty of possessing a gun with intent to cause fear of violence following a trial at Nottingham Crown Court which ended on Wednesday, October 30.

He was also found not guilty of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence at a separate incident.

Officers investigated local CCTV footage which showed Phipps with a firearm in his hand at around 2.30am in Radford.

On October 18 last year, he was arrested following a search warrant at his home.

Two imitation revolver style firearms were found and a BB gun painted to resemble a real firearm.

He has already served time on remand.

Detective Constable Stephanie Clough said: “We are pleased with this result and hope it sends a strong message to those who would think to take firearms, real or imitation, onto the street.”
