Aussie rapper Chillinit has issued an apology after he was arrested by police just one hour before he was set to perform a show in Northern NSW.

The Sydney artist — known off-stage as Blake Cab Marto Turnell — was scheduled to perform at Club Evans in Evans Head on Friday at 8.30pm, but the show was abandoned when he was arrested and removed from the venue by local police.

In a statement provided to PEDESTRIAN.TV, NSW Police said they were called to the venue “due to the behaviour of patrons” and arrested a “31-year-old man due to his behaviour”.

Officers took Chillinit to Ballina Police Station shortly after the arrest, where he was charged with allegedly failing to leave the premises when required and resisting or hindering officers.

Chillinit was granted conditional bail and will appear at Ballina Local Court next month.

The rapper apologised to his Evan Heads fans on his Instagram Stories, claiming his struggles with alcohol led to the incident.

“The grown man I’ve become knows my mistake was drinking, after doing so well fighting that demon some tough times led me back to the bottle and led me to [where] I was last night,” Chillinit wrote, adding that he didn’t “remember like six hours”.

Chillinit went on to allege that “police followed me to the venue to stop the show from going on” and claimed he “hadn’t committed a crime at the venue”.

“You can’t just come [and] kick me out of my own show,” he wrote.

In its own response, Club Evans said it was “extremely disappointed” that Chillinit’s show at the venue did not go ahead, saying “situation was entirely outside of the Club’s control”.

Ticketholders will be issued refunds after the cancelled show.

Evans Head was one stop on Chillinit’s ongoing All Aussie Adventure tour, which kicked off in Warrnambool in December and will wrap up in Dunsborough later this month. Chillinit’s next show is slated for Ulladulla on January 9.
