Chilling Snapchat video shows driver 'play chicken with cars' before fatal crash

Footage captures a young driver "play chicken with cars" and joke with pals moments before she died in a horror car crash .

Shania McNeill, 21, was filming singing and posing at the wheel as she swerved on the wrong side of the road in her Suzuki Baleno.

A passenger can be heard screaming "Shania" in the chilling clip released by police today in Queensland, Australia.

Moments later Faeda Hunter, who was filming her friend, drops the phone and the video cuts out.

Shania died after she crashed the Suzuki into a Nissan Micra at a junction.

Five others were injured in the collision.

The harrowing clip was shared on Snapchat .

Michael Corboy, New South Wales Police Commissioner, fears this is a growing trend.

"It's not just young people - it's right through the (age) spectrum.

"Any trend of going to video or Instagram or any of those social media platforms and sending out video or taping while you're driving is a trend we're really trying to stop," he told 9News .

"The message needs to get through that if you continue to do this, you or your friends could continue to die."

Shania's heartbroken dad Lee McNeill told of his grief.

He said: "It was that knock at the door every parent dreads... that sound is going to haunt me for the rest of my life.

"As a parent you never think something like this is going to happen, I always told her I love her, but I wish I could just tell her again."

Mr Fuller, another driver hurt in the smash, told the newspaper: "It was a violent swerve towards me... quite intentional.

"I moved out of the way and it seemed to take a second swipe at me."

Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident, to hand it in.
