Chilling Ring doorbell footage captures moment man tries to break into Scots home

A man was caught on camera trying to break into a Scots home during the early hours of the morning.

Cops in Fife are probing the attempted break-in after the crook was videoed trying to gain entry to a home in Kinghorn on Tuesday morning.

Footage captured on a Ring doorbell shows the man walking up to the door and glancing at the camera before he tries the front door handle.

When he fails to get entry to the locked door, he turns and walks away as he puts his hood up.

The culprit is wearing a tracksuit and black trainers.

At the end of the footage another man can be seen joining him in the driveway.

The home owner, who asked to remain anonymous, said he didn't receive an alarm notification because his phone was on silent.

He realised his home had been targeted at 5am when he woke up and checked his mobile.

A neighbour's home was also targeted around 3am this morning, the man said.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a number of enquiries relating to attempts to gain entry to properties in Kinghorn and Burntisland areas in the early hours of Tuesday, 1 June.

"Enquiries into the incidents are ongoing and any information can be passed to police by calling 101, quoting incident 0440 of 1 June, 2021."
