Chilling new Dracula trailer showcases Scottish producer's latest work

Scots producer Steven Moffat's latest work has been showcased in a chilling new trailer for upcoming TV horror Dracula.

The new adaptation of the Bram Stoker classic - co-created by the Paisley-born writer and his fellow Sherlock producer Mark Gatiss - promises to spook viewers.

The three-part series - a co-production between BBC One and Netflix - will star Danish actor Claes Bang in the title role.

The eerie trailer features bats swooping outside a castle, a hand covered in blood and nuns clutching stakes.

In the clip, Dracula whispers to a trembling man: "Try and stay calm, you're doing very well."

The series was announced last year, and the BBC said at the time it would "reintroduce the world to Dracula" the vampire who "made evil sexy".

New images have also been released of John Heffernan as Jonathan Harker, Dolly Wells as Sister Agatha and Joanna Scanlan as Mother Superior.

Moffat, 57, is best know for his previous work on the BBC’s acclaimed Sherlock series, staring Benedict Cumberbatch and Doctor Who.

The former Camphill High pupil helped revive the long-running sci fi classic in 2004 and stepped away from writing the show in 2016.

Dracula will premiere on BBC One in the UK and on Netflix outside of the UK and Ireland.

A date is yet to be announced.
