Chilling new Coronation Street Christmas promo confirms potential victims in gun siege

Coronation Street is in for a very turbulent holiday season as a Weatherfield resident is set to suffer a grisly fate at the hands of a gunman.

And a dark new promo video has teased who will become the victim of the dramatic armed siege as a number of characters receive chilling Christmas present in the shape of a mysterious gold bullet inside.

The scenes will be set in the midst of the street's very own 'Winter Wonderland', with a number of key characters consequently left in the firing line.

The new teaser video sees Maria Connor, Shona Platt, Robert Preston, Michelle Connor, Gary Windass and Ali Neeson each receive a gold bullet inside a Christmas gift box.

With Christmas fast approaching, the stars of the ITV soap have now got their hands on the festive scripts and dropped major hints about all the drama.

It has been confirmed that Derek Milligan wants to make Gary pay after accusing the loan shark of ruining his life and ends up finding an antique rifle, left by Fiz in Gary's furniture shop.

However one resident gets caught in gunman's efforts and unfortunately gets killed off this Christmas.

The seasonal showdown sees Derek head to The Rovers Returns pub as a man on a mission to hunt down Gary, but after a scary fight on top of the Helter Skelter - fist gets swung and there is a fatal consequence for one resident.

Recent rumours that suggested that Robert will lose his life off-screen with wife-to-be Michelle Connor breaking the news to everyone.

A drunk Derek will apparently wave the gun around in the pub, with he and Gary embroiled in a vicious fight.

But will this be the moment Gary Windass is exposed ahead of drama involving Adam Barlow and Ali Neeson?

Meanwhile Shona Platt is determined to make David’s birthday extra special and heads to Wonderland with the rest of Platts, inevitably finding themselves at the centre of Derek’s gun siege.

With exits looming on the soap there's talks of a shock death or two, while one cast member has promised "something very dramatic" happens on the Cobbles.

Sarah Platt actress Tina O'Brien told Lorraine something was happening this Christmas, but she remained coy over the details.

Fiz Brown actress Jennie McAlpine has also hinted at a death, while promising "dramatic" scenes
