Chilling footage of a man armed with a crossbow threatening to 'assassinate' The Queen has emerged after police were called to reports of a security breach at Windsor Castle.
A 19-year-old man was arrested on Christmas morning after reportedly scaling a fence at about 8.30am.
He has since been sectioned under the Mental Health Act. Police recovered a crossbow following the incident.
Footage has now emerged of a masked man wearing a black hoodie, and armed with a crossbow, The Sun reports.
In the video posted on Snapchat he says: "I'm sorry. I'm sorry for what I've done and what I will do. I will attempt to assassinate Elizabeth, Queen of the Royal Family.
"This is revenge for those who have died in the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
"It is also revenge for those who have been killed, humiliated and discriminated on because of their race."
A Scotland Yard spokesperson told The Mirror : “Following the man’s arrest, detectives are assessing the contents of a video.”
Police said the man did not enter any buildings at the castle, where the Queen has been staying at Christmas.
There have since been calls for the Queen's security arrangements to be reviewed, with the incident said to be at least the third security breach at Windsor this year.
Ken Wharfe, ex-bodyguard to Princess Diana, said: "The Queen’s safety is clearly under threat.
"Fortunately, this individual was caught in time but any system could always be beefed up as any other scenario could be tragic."
Dai Davies, the former chief superintendent and head of the royal protection unit, said: "The officers on the scene did their job and averted a disaster and that is first and foremost the most important thing.
"But once the threat was contained and the individual was in custody, questions will be asked immediately.
"It does seem that Windsor is having an issue with intruders of late and those in charge need to get to the bottom of it straight away before something more sinister comes to pass."
In an update issued yesterday, the Metropolitan Police said: "A 19-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of breach or trespass of a protected site and possession of an offensive weapon.
"Security processes were triggered within moments of the man entering the grounds and he did not enter any buildings.
"Following a search of the man, a crossbow was recovered.
"The man was taken into custody and has undergone a mental health assessment - he has since been sectioned under the Mental Health Act and remains in the care of medical professionals.
"Enquiries into the full circumstances of this incident are being progressed by Metropolitan Police Specialist Operations."
