Chilling footage caught on a doorbell shows the moment a 'terrifying' prowler shone a torch through the windows of a Scots family's home in the middle of the night.
The disturbing video shows the hooded stalker approaching the house at 1.44am on Monday in Stewarton, Ayrshire.
The man shines a torch through the windows of the property on Lothian Road before turning and running off into the darkness.
Extra CCTV caught the man inspecting the car outside the house and trying the door.
The alarm was raised after the frightened residents reported the incident to police.
It comes after an alleged spike of suspicious activity in the area according to concerned locals.
A source told the Daily Record: "A number of doors have been tried on the street it's terrifying.
"The creepy man tried his luck again in a different area of the town.
"It’s absolutely disgusting that this is happening."
Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
