Chilean Nationals Linked To Multi-State Burglary Ring Arrested

Five Chilean nationals arrested in Baltimore County for first-degree attempted burglary.

Five Chilean nationals were recently arrested in Baltimore County, Maryland, for their involvement in a burglary at a residence. The suspects, identified as 20-year-old, 21-year-old, 22-year-old, 23-year-old, and 27-year-old individuals, were charged with first-degree attempted burglary and other related crimes.

The arrests were made by the Baltimore County Police Department on Feb 3, 2024, following a burglary in progress at a residence on Tufton Springs Lane. The suspects were apprehended while attempting to flee the scene in a vehicle.

An investigation revealed that the five individuals may be linked to multiple other burglaries in Baltimore County, as well as criminal activities in North Carolina, Alabama, and Oklahoma. They were also allegedly part of a theft ring originating from South America.

According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), all five suspects are Chilean nationals who were in the country illegally. ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in Baltimore have placed immigration detainers against the individuals.

ICE reported that four of the suspects entered the U.S. lawfully as non-immigrants but failed to depart as required. The fifth suspect entered the country illegally without admission by a U.S. immigration official.

Furthermore, arrest warrants were issued for the suspects in Orange County, North Carolina, for burglary-related charges. One of the suspects was previously arrested in Orange County, Florida, for petty retail theft.

All five individuals are currently being held in Baltimore County on immigration detainers. These detainers are lodged against non-citizens who have been arrested for criminal activities, allowing ICE to be notified before their release from custody.
