Chilean club named after Rangers releases kit with nod to Ibrox roots

A Chilean lower league club named after Rangers have paid homage to their roots with their latest kit launch.

Rangers de Talca's new strip has just been launched today and has plenty similarities with any given Rangers tops with its blue, red and white colours. Written on the strip is a message which translates to 'From Govan to the Maul' which is the region the club is based within.

Pictures of Ibrox feature in the promo video too, as the voiceover talks about the clubs roots being "born in Scotland."

It adds "that bond gave us a name, a spirit, an identity. With every goal, with every chant, we honour a legacy built by our people.

"Today, we look back to where it all began. It is the passion of Talca, with the soul of Scotland."

The caption on their social media post adds: "A bond that spans more than a century. In 1902, our roots were united with Scotland through the founders who named Rangers inspired by the historic Rangers FC of Glasgow.

"Today, more than 120 years later, that bond is dressed in homage with our alternate kit: the classic red and black, along with the blue that recalls the land that inspired our founders. A kit that is not only worn… it is felt!"

Scotsman Juan Greenstret was one of the founders of the club back in 1902 and chose the name after the famous club from back home.

Today, they compete in Primera B, the second tier of football in the South American nation.
