Peru are through to their first Copa America final since 1975 after thrashing neighbours Chile 3-0 in Porto Alegre on Wednesday night.
Chile, Copa America champions in 2015 and again in the Copa America Centenario in 2016, were big favourites heading into this game, but Peru dominated from the outset and went ahead after 21 minutes through winger Edison Flores.
Flores, who saw a shot deflected wide to win a corner moments earlier, slotted into the corner with his left foot at the far post following the set piece to give Ricardo Gareca's side a deserved lead.
Yoshimar Yotun then made it 2-0 later in the half as he took advantage of a calamitous error from Chile goalkeeper Gabriel Arias.
Arias came rushing out of his area on the left to intercept a ball to Andre Carrillo, but the winger got there first and played a ball back to Yotun on the edge of the box. The midfielder chested it down and volleyed into the empty net with 38 minutes gone.
Chile dominated possession in the remainder of the first half and also in the second, but Peru defended well and goalkeeper Pedro Gallese made key saves from Alexis Sanchez, Arturo Vidal, Jean Beasejour and others.
As the defending champions pushed for goals late on, captain Paolo Guerrero rounded Arias to score a third in added time and that confirmed Peru's place in Sunday's showpiece against Brazil.
There was still time after that for Eduardo Vargas to miss a penalty for Chile, his Panenka effort saved by Gallese with the last kick of the game on a historic night for Peruvian football.
Peru meet Brazil at the Maracana on Sunday, having lost 5-0 to the hosts in the group stage, while Chile will play Argentina in the third-place play-off on Saturday in Sao Paulo.
