A UK firm is seeking reviewers for a special bed sheet they say helps children with sensory overload.
The Cuddle Blanket company's Senso Compression Bed Sheet is being seen as an alternative to a weighted blanket which is intended to provide pressure and sensory input for people with autism and a number of other disorders.
Weighted blankets are used as a calming tool or to help aid restful sleep because the pressure from the blanket provides "proprioceptive" input to the brain.
This in turn triggers a release of the serotonin hormone which is a naturally occurring calming chemical in the body.
Now the Cuddle Blanket company are inviting reviewers to try their new bed sheet which covers the mattress like a pillow case.
A spokesperson said: "It stretches over your child’s body and gives deep pressure to calm and soothe an overaroused, disorganised and/or fearful nervous system.
"It will work wonders on children who have a difficult time unwinding, relaxing and calming their body for sleep.
"The fabric is breathable, helps the user to stay cool in hot weather and it is easy to use with a favourite blanket underneath it when it's cold.
"Our chosen reviewers will receive one of our Senso Compression Sheets for their child or themselves to keep. In return for the Senso sheet all we ask for is for an honest review of the product for us to use on our website and social media pages."
