Children under 12 not allowed to visit Arrowe Park Hospital as new coronavirus rules put in place

Visitor restrictions are in place from today at Arrowe Park Hospital amid concerns over coronavirus.

Only family members and carers are allowed to visit patients at the hospital, with just one visitor allowed per day for a maximum of two hours.

Visitors will only be permitted between 4pm and 7pm.

Children under 12 will not be allowed to visit any ward, unless their relatives are nearing the end of their life.

In which case specific arrangements should be made with the nurse in charge.

Visitors with any symptoms of coronavirus, including a cough or temperature, must not visit the hospital.

To free up beds for coronavirus patients, all non-urgent operations in England and Scotland will be postponed.

Yesterday, the Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced a £330bn package of loans and £20bn in additional aid to protect businesses facing losses as a result of the virus.

At a Downing Street press conference, he said: "Never in peacetime have we faced an economic fight like this one."

The government's chief scientific adviser Sir Patrick Vallance, said it would be a "good outcome" for the country if the number of deaths from coronavirus could be kept below 20,000.
