Children under 10 knocking on houses 'checking who is in' before gluing front doors in north Dublin

Children under the age of 10 are terrorising Dubliners by damaging their doors using a new trick that's costing residents a hefty price to fix.

The brazen children are going around houses in the Swords area of north Dublin looking for empty houses so they can glue front doors or the barrel of a car door lock, Dublin Live reports.

One angry local told a local Facebook group: "I caught three children trying to glue a front door in Castleview Lawns.

"The oldest was about 10-years-old and the rest were even younger again."

The resident said that the group fitted the description of children who locals had spotted on CCTV gluing their front doors and cars shut.

"When I asked what they were doing they said they were just checking to see who was in and ran away."

Another resident chimed in saying: "I was locked outside my house with my son for two hours cause of these young kids gluing my door shut.

"It cost me €95 to fix. It was a horrible and costly trick to play."

Gardai added that they had received several complaints from locals who had their car door lock barrel glued shut.

They asked anyone with information or who had experienced a similar incident from the past week to report it in person at the garda station.
