Children thought to have trashed polytunnel and crops at community garden in Loanhead

Two children are thought to have trashed a polytunnel and crops at a community garden in Loanhead.

Midlothian Police are investigating the vandalism, which happened at the gardens on Mayburn Walk at around 5.30pm on Sunday.

A couple of youths, aged around 12, were reported to have been involved. One was wearing a grey hooded top while the other had blonde hair and was wearing dark clothing.

The garden on the street features a children's playground, mini orchard, vegetable growing area and greenhouse. It is open to the wider community while there are a host of groups running there throughout the week – from sessions for adults with additional support needs to 'parents and tots'.

Officers want anyone with information on this incident to come forward by contacting them on 101, quoting incident number 1161 of 1 July, or by phoning Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
