Children shine as Christmas stars in Bristol school nativities and plays

Ever since the lobster made its surprise nativity debut in the festive film Love Actually, school Christmas plays have seemed to make December ever more flamboyant and fun.

And this year's crop of colourful photos prove that the wealth of talent in Bristol's schools is no exception to the rule.

Scroll through our gallery for a healthy dose of Christmas cheer.

Who can fail to have their seasonal spirits lifted by this host of angels, stars and snowflakes?

Not forgetting their furry friends the sheep, reindeer and camels!
