Children sent home after positive COVID-19 case at Castleview Primary school

Parents of children in a class at Castleview Primary School have been told to keep their kids at home after a pupil tested positive for coronavirus.

The Craigmillar school posted a message yesterday saying they were working with NHS Lothian Health Protection Team to contact some parents.

The Head Teacher Clare Langley said a number of people were being contacted as they may have been in close and sustained contact with the infected pupil and will need to self-isolate.

The message on the school's website says: "We have been informed of a positive COVID case in our P7A class. Parents/Carers with pupils in P7A should expect a call from NHS Public Health Lothian tonight and should not bring their child in P7A to school tomorrow.

"The Test & Protect team will be calling parents tonight and the number may show as unknown."

One mum who has a child in P7A told Edinburgh Live that kids would be off school until at least the 9th.

She said: "The school had the NHS phoning round everyone to tell them last night about 8pm onwards. They were asking everyone's parents to have them tested before returning on the 9th. They are also cleaning more regularly."
