Children 'scream for help' after tree falls on mum in park

The emergency services and members of the public rescued a woman with a broken leg and a head injury after a tree fell on her in a park.

A woman had been walking in Bramcote Hills Park with her children at around 7pm on Bank Holiday Monday (May 25) when a tree snapped and landed on her, hitting her in the head and snapping her leg.

Having become trapped, her children screamed for help and a number of people passing by came to help.

The emergency services, including Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Nottinghamshire Police, were called after the group lifted the tree from her leg.

A crew from Stapleford Fire Station attended and said members of the public had called them because the woman could not walk and was in a "considerable amount of pain".

"Paramedics quickly helped the lady but required our help accessing the park and evacuating the her from an inclined slope," a spokesperson for Stapleford Fire Station said.

"We supported her rescue using a scoop stretcher and a crew of six firefighters.

"Thank you to all the members of the public who helped the lady and for your kind comments during the rescue.

"We wish her a speedy recovery and hope she is back on both feet soon."
