Children's charity makes plea to day trippers after hospice blocked by cars

A children's charity in Balloch has issued a plea to day trippers after access to their hospice was blocked by cars.

Children's Hospices Across Scotland's (CHAS) Robin House facility has urged drivers not to travel to the beauty spot after the road leading to their hospice and car park was heavily congested over the weekend.

The added that on Sunday, an ambulance struggled to to access the hospice due to the large number of cars.

A statement from CHAS on social media reads: "A plea from Robin House: we would politely ask people to respect government advice and refrain from travelling to beauty spots such as Balloch. The road up towards our hospice and around the corner has recently been congested with parking.

"On Sunday, an ambulance had difficulty accessing the hospice due to the congestion. We've also had members of the public using our car park, occupying all disabled bays and preventing families from visiting.

We appreciate that everyone is keen to go outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather but it’s so important that we support families during this time and that emergency services can easily access the hospice. Thank you so much for your understanding."

As warm weather swept the country this weekend, many people drove to Loch Lomond and other beauty spots after lockdown restrictions were eased, despite Scottish Government guidance against travelling long distances.
