Children reunited with bikes stolen after thief backed on to mum's driveway

Children's bicycles that were stolen from a driveway in Clifton have been recovered and returned to their owners.

On Saturday, September 2, Nottinghamshire Live reported how a mum had been left in shock after a man was caught on CCTV loading his car up with the children's toys.

Rachel Staniforth, 32, was in her house with her two sons, Blake, six and three-year-old Logan, when a man in a blue Mazda pulled up in her driveway.

After looking at the footage, Ms Staniforth saw the man taking around eight bicycles and scooters belonging to the boys while parked on her driveway in Failsworth Close in Clifton.

On Monday, all the toys were found and returned, after the car and the driver were located.

Ms Staniforth said: "The children are so happy to have their stuff back, but it has made them nervous.

"They keep wanting to bring everything back into the house. They've never been like that before.

"Where I used to live, we would leave things out on the driveway and nothing was ever taken. Their toys were clearly packed away and he helped himself.

"I'm trying to teach my kids right from wrong, but what will they think seeing this? That it's okay to steal?"

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said: "Nottinghamshire Police was called just before 6.20pm on Saturday, August 31 to a report of a theft on Failsworth Close in Clifton.

"Children’s toys – including a bike and scooters - were reported stolen from a front garden.

"Officers have worked closely with the victim of the crime and have secured local CCTV footage, which they continue to review.

"The stolen items have been recovered and returned to the victim."

There have been no arrests at this stage.
