Children pay tribute to Paisley school stalwart by planting festive tree in her memory

Pupils at a Paisley nursery school have planted a special tree in memory of a much-loved member of staff who died earlier this year.

Children at Todholm Primary created a little festive garden to remember Jan Keddie who worked at the school for 21 years.

She sadly passed away, aged 66, in August and pupils are determined not to let her memory fade.

Jan began life at the school as a classroom assistant before she took up the role as office manager, where she became an indispensable piece of the school’s fabric.

Her proud son Allan is delighted with the young people’s efforts to keep her in their thoughts this holiday season.

He told the Express: “As I got older, she decided to go back to work and took a job as a classroom assistant at the school, where she worked for about seven years.

“Then the woman who was in the office was retiring and my mum went for the that job.

“She was the point of contact for pupils, parents and staff all those years, helping people.

“I work in Morrisons, and I have had parents approach me and tell me that my mum was the only member of staff their child was comfortable talking too.

“She was very approachable.

“She was the ideal person to be working in a school office.”

Allan added: “I have told people this recently, she was the most wonderful person.

“I could not have asked for a better mum, really.

“She loved her time at Todholm Primary School and she clearly made a big impact during her time there on all the staff and pupils.

“The memorial Christmas tree at the school is such a lovely gesture and I’m very thankful to all the staff and pupils involved in putting it together.

“My mum would have loved it.”
