Children in Need NI appeal 2020: Everything you need to know about the annual tear-jerking fundrasier

2020 has seen a lot of annual events cancelled but thankfully, one staple of our November is returning to our TV screens tonight, the annual Children in Need appeal show.

And believe it or not it's celebrating its 40th birthday!

Every year the appeal touches the hearts of the nation who dig deep to help the most vulnerable children across the country who are in desperate need of our help.

This year's show will be no different, although Covid-19 regulations will be strictly adhered to, the show must go on and there's a whole star-studded line-up ready to entertain you as well as inspiring stories of bravery and fundraising from near and far.

What time does it air?

The Children In Need Appeal takes place on BBC One on Friday 13 November at 7pm.

Who is hosting the event?

Holly Hamilton and Pudsey will be hosting the event from Belfast while Mel Giedroyc returns to host the main show alongside Alex Scott MBE, Chris Ramsey and Stephen Mangan.

What celebrities are taking part?

From Strictly Come Dancing, to EastEnders and Doctor Who, the fundraising spectacular will be jam-packed with exclusive sketches, exciting performances, music, dance and a few surprises.

There’ll be an abundance of singing and dancing from the best of the West End, with performances from Cinderella The Musical and the cast of SIX! Also singing live is the sensational Beverley Knight AND with a performance recorded especially for BBC Children in Need, is the multi award-winning Shawn Mendes.

Where does the money go?

BBC Children in Need’s vision is that every child in the UK has a safe, happy and secure childhood and the chance to reach their potential. The charity will realise this vision by supporting, promoting and publicising work that addresses the challenges that children and young people face and work that builds their skills and resilience.

BBC Children in Need is currently supporting over 3,900 local charities and projects in communities across the UK that are helping children and young people facing a range of disadvantages such as living in poverty, being disabled or ill, or experiencing distress, neglect or trauma.

How can I donate?

There are many ways to donate:

  • You can also call 0345 7 33 22 33 and make a donation over the phone. (Standard geographic charges from landlines and mobiles will apply).
  • You can donate on the phone or on the BBC Children in Need website. Use your debit or credit card, or your PayPal account.
  • Pay in your fundraising money at all major banks, building societies, or the Post Office.
  • Send a cheque or postal order to BBC Children in Need, PO Box 648, Salford, M5 0LB.
  • To donate £10 text the word DONATE to 70410, to donate £20 text DONATE to 70420 or to donate £30 text DONATE to 70430. Texts will cost your donation plus your standard network message charge and all of your donation will go to BBC Children in Need.
