Children 'burned by toxic slime' shot out from cannons at Nickelodeon concert

Children were '"burned by toxic slime" at a popular Nickelodeon event at a theme park on the weekend, a mother has claimed.

Hoards of crying youngsters had to be wiped down, dressed in fresh clothes and given antihistamines after they were allegedly struck by the green sludge at Nickelodeon Slime Fest at Blackpool Pleasure Beach Arena.

Vivienne Hannah's two kids and one of their friends are still being treated for the injuries sustained there on Saturday, Daily Record says.

David McGavin, 12, and Hannah McGavin, 11, plus David's pal Arron MacKay, 11, needed treatment.

Vivienne, 43, had travelled from Dunoon in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, to Blackpool, Lancashire, over the weekend with the three youngsters and Arron's mum Laura MacKay.

"I am absolutely raging about this. The medical centre at the arena was full of crying children being treated for burns," Vivienne said.

"There's no excuse.

"We've never had any issues before with the slime, none of the children have allergies.

"Usually the slime comes out of small tubes attached to the ceiling.

"This year it was bigger cannons all around the stage and at the level of their faces."

The event, featuring rapper Professor Green, dance troupe, Diversity, and YouTube duo, Max and Harvey saw crowds of youngsters covered in slime from cannons in the slime pit, while parents watched on in standing.

It is the third time Vivienne has been to Slime Fest with David and Hannah and each year, it's in a different UK town or city.

Vivienne, who is a stay-at-home mum, continued: "I found the boys at the medical centre.

"They had been wiped down and given new t-shirts plus antihistamies.

"Both boys were blotchy, red and their skin was really warm.

"There were at least another five or six kids there at that point.

"David is high functioning autistic so he was feeling really uncomfortable."

"Soon after, Hannah was shot almost directly in face by one of the cannons.

"At the medical centre she was covered in welts and her skin was burning hot, as if she had sunburn, all down her back and chest."

Fuming, Vivienne sought out a Nickelodeon representative.

"The man just said, 'We don't know what's in the slime we just know it's non-toxic'.

"How can they say that when crowds of kids are in tears, they've called in paramedics and they're all being given antihistamines?"

Tickets for the two adults and three children cost £95.

Between transport, bed and breakfast and costs to cover food and drink, the mums forked out over £500.

Event organisers sold out shows, on Saturday, Sunday and Monday with two shows each day.

The Record understands both of today's shows are going ahead.

Nickelodeon has been contacted for comment.
