Children at Ayrshire primary pick up Green Flag award

Children at Coylton Primary School have once again proved their outstanding ‘eco-warriors’ credentials by winning a Green Flag award.

It’s the third time the prestigious Green Flag has been awarded to the school and everyone is delighted with this latest accolade.

The first criteria of the Green Flag Awards is to form an Eco-Committee to represent the ideas of the whole school. The Eco-Committee then completes an environmental review, to investigate the current situation in the school. Those results are used to create an action plan of planned projects on litter and two other environmentally friendly topics. The action plan includes ways of measuring the progress of projects, and ideas for future development.

Finally, the whole school creates an Eco-Code representing their commitment to environmental issues. As a result, Coylton PS has demonstrated everything in recent months to enable them to win another eco-friendly title.
