A childcare worker has been charged after she allegedly assaulted a four-year-old boy in her care.
In June, Port Stephens-Hunter Police District officers launched an investigation after they were told that a worker at a childcare centre on Paterson Road at Bolwarra had allegedly assaulted a child.
Police alleged the 22-year-old woman assaulted the four-year-old on June 24.
About 1.30pm on Wednesday, investigators arrested the woman at a home in the Hunter region.
The woman was taken to Maitland Police Station and charged with common assault and child being subjected to corporal punishment by a staff member.
The woman was granted conditional bail and will face Maitland Local Court on July 22.
