Child taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by car

Police have confirmed a child has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car near a park in Bristol. Emergency services were called at 5.44pm on Sunday (July 17) to Bishport Avenue by Hartcliffe Millennium Park after a child was hit by a car.

An eyewitness reported seeing an air ambulance land close to the entrance of the park to assist with the incident. According to police the child has been admitted to hospital with serious injuries, which are not deemed to be life-threatening at this time.

In a statement to Bristol Live, a spokesperson at Avon and Somerset Police said: “We were called at 5.44pm today (Sunday 17 July) following a collision in Bishport Avenue, Bristol, between a car and a child.

“The child has been taken to hospital with serious injuries, which at this stage are not believed to be life-threatening. Enquiries into this incident are ongoing.”
