Child taken to hospital as police seal off house - officers are not treating it as suspicious

A child has been taken to hospital after police were called to a house in Denton.

Officers were called to Prince Edward Avenue in Denton on Sunday morning to reports of concern for the welfare of a child at a property.

Police and paramedics from North West Ambulance Service attended the scene at around 9.40am.

An air ambulance was also seen landing nearby, but is believed to have been stood down.

A child has been taken to hospital. The extent of their injuries are not yet known.

Police say they are not treating the incident as suspicious.

No arrests have been made.

Pictures show a small police cordon which was erected between a number of residential properties on Sunday morning.

Residents reported seeing a police car, a police van, an ambulance and air ambulance at the scene.

The cordon has since been scaled back.

A police car remains at the scene as officers carry out their investigations.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "At around 9.40am on Sunday 5 April 2020, police were called by the ambulance service responding to reports of concern for the welfare of a child at a property on Prince Edward Avenue, Denton.

"Emergency services attended and a child was taken to hospital.

"Enquiries are being carried out to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, but it is not currently believed to be suspicious.

"No arrests have been made."
