Child taken to hospital after jumping into Blue Lagoon in Pembrokeshire

A child has been taken to hospital after apparently jumping into a lagoon at a Pembrokeshire beauty spot.

The incident happened on Saturday afternoon at the Blue Lagoon in Abereiddi.

Police and paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service attended the scene shortly after 3.05pm.

A child was injured and taken to Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen.

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 3.06pm on Saturday to an incident in Abereiddi, Pembrokeshire. One patient was conveyed to hospital in a road ambulance. There is no further information on the extent of any injuries suffered.”

The lagoon iself is extremely popular with tourists and adventurers, including those taking part in water sports like diving, kayaking and coasteering.

A former slate quarry, it was abandoned and flooded in 1910 but is still surrounded by ruined quarry buildings and sloping cliff sides.
