Child taken to hospital after being hit by a car near Manchester city centre

A child has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car near Manchester city centre.

Police were called to Weybridge Road in Miles Platting at 18.49pm on Tuesday (30 June) to reports of a crash involving a car and a child.

A child has been taken to hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be serious.

The age and gender of the victim has not been confirmed, but the M.E.N understands they are two years-old.

The driver of the car stayed at the scene following the crash, Greater Manchester Police said.

No arrests have been made.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "Police were called at 18.49pm on Tuesday 30 June to Weybridge Road to reports of a road traffic accident involving a child.

"The collision was between a car and a child. The child has been taken to hospital and is not thought to be seriously injured.

"The driver of the car stayed at the scene."
