Child suffers burns to face, three others injured after three separate house fires in South-East Queensland

A Coorparoo house fire in Brisbane's inner south leaves a woman with severe burns and two children hospitalised.

Three fires have destroyed homes in South-East Queensland overnight including one that left a woman with severe burns in Brisbane's inner south early this morning.

Emergency crews were called to Kitchener Street in Coorparoo shortly after 3:00am, where they found a house well alight.

The Queensland Ambulance Service said a 30-year-old woman was taken to the Royal Brisbane Hospital with severe burns to her legs.

A five-year-old girl was taken to the Brisbane Children's Hospital with burns to her face and a three-year-old suffering smoke inhalation was also hospitalised.

A 32-year-old man was also treated for minor burns and taken to hospital.

Neighbouring residents were evacuated.

Neighbour Lea-Ellen Vance said she woke to the sound of people screaming including the young children who live at the home.

"I thought someone was having [an argument] so I just rolled over and went back to bed and then I thought, 'shivers I've got to get up'," she said.

Ms Vance said she went outside and saw a "huge" blaze across the street.

"I've never seen so many different coloured flames — orange, yellow, red," she said.

"Very, very big — it was a lot."

Ms Vance said four people lived in the house including two young girls under the age of 5.

The house was destroyed and a crime scene has been set up while police investigate the cause of the fire.

Anyone with further information is urged to contact police.

In a separate incident on the Gold Coast, a fire extensively damaged two duplexes at Miami overnight.

All residents were able to self-evacuate when a large fire began at about 9:00pm in one duplex and spread to an adjoining home.

In another incident, a fire destroyed a home at Twin View Road in Elimba, north of Caboolture.

Police said no-one was home at the time.
