Child sex beast who tried to lure 10-year-old into paedophile ring dies in Barlinnie

A pervert who once jailed for trying to lure a little girl into a paedophile ring has died in Barlinnie.

Alistair Findlay was two years into a life sentence when he passed away.

The news comes after he was caged following an investigation into abuse at a former children's home.

The 61-year-old preyed on five youngsters at the facility in Glasgow in the 1970s and 80s, the Daily Record reports.

A spokesman for the Scottish Prison Service confirmed the news in a statement and said a Fatal Accident Inquiry is likely to take place in due course.

Findlay was described as an "odious individual" by police following his trial at the High Court in Glasgow, where he was ordered to serve at least four and a half years and given a lifelong restriction order.

He was initially prosecuted - and then cleared - in 1984, following allegations made by residents of the Park Lodge children's home in Glasgow's Newlands.

In 2018 police launched a new investigation into abuse claims at the home, which closed in 2008.

He was found guilty of seven charges after a trial.

Twisted Findlay was earlier jailed for six years in 1999 for trying to lure a 10-year-old girl into a paedophile ring.

He was sentenced to three years for having indecent images of children in 2004.

In 2016 he was imprisoned for two years for abusing boys during swimming lessons.

It is believed that Findlay died of natural causes.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Daily Record: "Around 5pm on Friday, February 12 officers were made aware of the death of a 61-year-old man in HMP Barlinnie.

"A post mortem examination will be carried out in due course however the death is not being treated as suspicious. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
