A pediatrician accused of sexually assaulting a patient could have offended against eight more children, a court has heard.

Chia Liang Saw appeared via video-link in Perth Magistrate's Court on Monday in the hope of applying for bail, but the application wasn't heard.

The 41-year-old was charged in late May with persistent sexual conduct with a child under 16 and possessing child exploitation material.

The offences allegedly happened at his place of work in a hospital.

A hidden camera in a Perth examination room captured Saw's alleged offending, the court heard.

A police prosecutor told Magistrate Janelle Scutt that any bail application would be strongly opposed and investigations into Saw's alleged conduct were ongoing.

Detectives were yet to interview five more potential victims, with the possibility that three more could be added to the list.

The total number of victims could be nine, the court heard.

Saw is also set to be charged with four counts of indecent dealing with a child under 13, the prosecutor said.

Magistrate Scutt said the court would not consider Saw's bail application until more details about his alleged offending could be considered.

She urged the police to complete their investigation as quickly as possible, stating Saw had a right to know what he was accused of.

The matter was adjourned until June 19 in the same court.

Saw, a developmental pediatrician, specialised in behavioural issues affecting children and operated from various locations in Perth, police previously said.

His medical registration has been suspended.
