A young boy has been seriously injured after a road collision in Co Kilkenny over the weekend.
The incident happened on Station Road, in Thomastown, Co Kilkenny on Sunday evening at around 7.45pm.
The child, who was walking on the road, was struck by a vehicle, which is understood to have been a car.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and the boy was taken to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny in a serious condition.
The driver of the car was uninjured.
A forensic collision investigation took place at the scene and the road has since reopened.
Gardai say their investigations are ongoing.

It comes as another young child is in a critical condition in hospital after a crash in neighbouring Co Tipperary that saw six people injured.
The collision happened late on Saturday night near Roscrea with two vehicles involved.
The young girl was rushed to Temple Street Hospital in Dublin to be treated for her injuries.
All other occupants of both cars were brought to University Hospital Limerick with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers closed the road for a time on Saturday night as forensic investigators called to the scene.
Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to contact them.
They are also asking that any motorists who were travelling in the townland of Lismaline, Ballingarry, on Saturday night and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) to make it available to gardai.
