Thugs melted a child's swing in a "mindless act of vandalism".
The kid's play area in Abbeyfield Park, in Netherton, was set alight destroying the basket swing and charring the ground. Sefton Council has now spoken out and slammed those responsible.
The local authority said it is "extremely disappointing" for those who regularly use the park, including young children. It also confirmed that the swing has been removed for repairs.

The council has also said it will cost "hundreds of pounds" as it repairs the swing and the carpet surface. The council posted on Facebook updating those in the area.
The post said: "A basket swing was set alight in the play area of Abbeyfield Park, Netherton in a mindless act of vandalism. This is extremely disappointing for genuine park users, including young children and families, who enjoy the play area facilities.
"The basket swing has been removed and repairs to the swing and carpet surface will cost the Council hundreds of pounds. As with any act of vandalism, the police have now been informed. If anyone has any information, please contact Merseyside Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
