Child's heartbreaking letter to mum killed during Russia's invasion of Ukraine

The child of a woman killed during Russia's invasion of Ukraine has written a heartbreaking message to her dead mother.

Penned in a journal, a photograph of the letter was shared on Twitter by Ukrainian politician Anton Gerashchenko. The adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine wrote: "Here’s the letter from 9-old girl to her mom who died in Borodianka."

Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky had said that the situation in Borodianka could be even more horrific than in Bucha, where investigators have found at least three sites of mass shootings of civilians during the Russian occupation.

It is not known how the girl's mum died. The heartbreaking note, translated by the New York Post, reads: "Mama. This letter is a present for you on March 8. If you think that you raised me in vain. Thank you for the best nine years of my life,”

“I am very grateful to you for my childhood. You are the best mum in the world. I will never forget you. I want you to be happy in the sky. I wish you go to heaven. We will meet in heaven. I will try my best to be a good to go to heaven also.

“Kiss you, Galiya.”
