A young boy has been taken to hospital after being knocked down by a hit and run driver in Edinburgh.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Drumdryan Road in the Tollcross area of the city at around 2pm on Sunday, March 7.
A man and the child were struck by a vehicle which failed to stop, Edinburgh Live reports.
The boy has been taken to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children while the man who was with him thankfully escaped uninjured.
Police Scotland confirmed that the road remains closed while their investigations into the collision continue.
A force spokesman said: "Around 2pm on Sunday, 7 March, 2021, police were called following a report that a man and a young child (male) were involved in a hit and run collision on Drumdryan Street, Tollcross, Edinburgh.
"The child has been taken by ambulance to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh for observations.
"The man was not injured.
"Officers are at the scene and enquiries are continuing. Drumdryan Road is closed in both directions and local diversions are in place."
