Child rushed to hospital after being hit by car in Paisley

A child was hospitalised after being knocked down by a car in Renfrewshire.

The 10-year-old schoolgirl was hit by a car on Barrhead Road in Paisley just before 4pm on Monday.

Emergency services raced to the scene and the girl was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Police say she was treated for minor injuries.

Officers closed the road down following the incident, but re-opened it just before 6pm.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman told the Record  "Shortly before 4pm on Monday, June 29 we received a report of a collision between a car and a pedestrian, a 10-year-old girl, on Barrhead Road in Paisley.

The girl was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with minor injuries.

"The road was re-opened around 5.50pm."
