Feb. 04--Investigators executing a search warrant in suburban Fox Lake on Wednesday found hundreds of videos of child pornography along with a loaded weapon and significant quantities of drugs, officials said in a news release.
Joshua S. Hoffman and Mariah M. Carlos were arrested and together face more than a dozen criminal charges as a result.
A child pornography investigation by Lake County sheriff's office and the Lake County state's attorney resulted in a search warrant for Hoffman and Carlos' residence, in the first block of Riverview Avenue in Fox Lake, according to the news release.
Detectives arrived there Wednesday and broke through the reinforced front door, officials said. They seized multiple electronic devices that later were found to store hundreds of videos of child pornography. Hoffman also reproduced at least one video of child pornography, officials said.
Investigators also reported finding a loaded gun as well as marijuana, LSD, psilocybin mushrooms, MDMA and pills.
Hoffman, 24, is charged with one count of reproducing child pornography and seven counts of possessing child pornography, along with seven drug charges, unlawful use of a weapon, and criminal fortification.
Carlos, 19, is charged with two felony counts of cannabis possession and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hoffman and Carlos are expected to appear in court Thursday.
