A child was severely burned and two adults were injured in a fire Friday in West Pullman on the Far South Side.

The fire was reported about 12:15 p.m. at a second-floor apartment in the 12100 block of South Indiana Avenue, according to Chicago police and fire officials.

A child about 10 or 11 years old is in critical condition with burns, authorities said.

The child, whose gender was not immediately known, was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Merritt. Two adults were also transported to Trinity Hospital and the University of Chicago Medical Center, but their conditions were not immediately known.

Police said one of the injured people was the child’s mother, who suffered burns to her arms.
