Child killer Jon Venables broke down in tears when he told prison staff how his girlfriend lost their baby.
And he told officers how he got upset every Father’s Day as he wondered what it would have been like to be a dad.
“It shows how deluded he is,” said a prison source. “There’s no way a child killer would have been allowed to bring up a kid.”
Venables, serving two years for downloading child porn, said he was devastated when his girlfriend lost their baby at 10 weeks while he was out on licence in 2005.
He blamed her boozing and smoking – but he was also off the rails then, drinking and taking cocaine while working at a pizza restaurant in Cheshire.
The prison source added: “Venables said that he was desperate to be a dad and did everything he could for her. But he said she wasn’t interested and when she lost the baby they split up.”
Last month the Sunday Mirror revealed Venables was obsessed with TV shows about childbirth.
Venables, now 29, and Robert Thompson were 10 when they killed two-year-old James Bulger in 1993.
