Child killer Ian Huntley attacks prison guard before being sent crying to solitary

Murderer Ian Huntley kicked a prison officer at HMP Frankland and was sent to solitary twice within days, it has been reported.

Huntley, who killed 10-year-old girls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in Soham in 2002, sobbed when he was put in solitary for a second time, days after another flare-up, according to The Sun .

He was stripped of privileges including his £20-a-week painting job.

Huntley, who is serving a life sentence at the County Durham prison, was first sent to the segregation cell for swearing.

He told a male official to “f*** off” in breach of prison rules.

The killer was then hauled in front of governors for an adjudication hearing, but flipped seconds after it was adjourned.

As he was escorted away, Huntley is said to have kicked out at a male officer, who avoided injury.

A source told The Sun: "It was a pretty pitiful, pathetic attempt, more a trip than a kick.

"Huntley was quickly restrained and taken back to segregation again, sobbing as he went.

"He's almost unrecognisable now from what the public would remember. He looks like a skinny old man with no fight left in him."

August’s attack meant Huntley’s privileges were stripped back to the lowest for offenders.

He was banned from buying his favourite fish and chip suppers and other pricier canteen options, lost the painting job, and his right to watch TV.

The stint in isolation is thought to be his first at HMP Frankland, where he is serving a minimum 40 years.

A source added: "The big challenge with Huntley has always come from inmates wanting to attack him.

"He's had health problems, suicide attempts and depression in the past. But it’s clear prison life is now really catching up with him.”

Huntley is understood to have recently left segregation.
