A child was taken to hospital and a busy road was closed following a two-car crash outside of a pub this afternoon.
Police were called to the Wellington Pub on St James Road at around 11.30am today after two cars collided near the junction off Burrow's Lane in Eccleston, St Helens.
In an image shared with the ECHO, a number of ambulance and police vehicles were at the scene.

Police have confirmed a Vauxhall Astra and a Volkswagen were involved in the crash and that a man was checked over at the scene and a child was taken to hospital by a family member as a precaution.
Any injuries have not been confirmed and the road has since been reopened.
A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "A two vehicle collision took place on St James Road. We were got called just before 11.30am.
"It was a Vauxhall Astra and a Volkswagen involved.
"Both vehicles have been recovered and the road was reopened just after 1pm.
"A child was taken to hospital by a family member just as a precaution and a male was checked over at the scene."
North West Ambulance Service said they have taken a male patient in his 90s to hospital. Any injuries have not been confirmed.
