Child hospitalised with serious injuries following two vehicle collision near Liffey Valley shopping centre on St Stephen's Day

A child was hospitalised with serious injuries following a collision involving two vehicles near a Dublin shopping centre on St Stephen's Day.

The crash happened at around 5.10pm on Thursday on the Coldcut Road near the Liffey Valley shopping centre in Dublin 22.

Gardai attended the scene along with other emergency services including Dublin Fire Brigade and paramedics.

The child was taken to hospital where it emerged that their injuries, while serious, were not life-threatening.

Gardai reminded the public to slow down when on the roads and to never take chances.

They said: "DMR Roads Policing and Ronanstown Gardaí attend a 2 vehicle RTC on the Coldcut Rd on Dec 26 at 5.10pm.

"One child was taken to hospital with serious but thankfully non life threatening injuries, two adults attended as a precaution. Slow down and never take chances on the road."
