Child hit by car outside rugby club in Llantwit Major

A child has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Llantwit Major.

The incident happened on Thursday afternoon when a grey Volkswagen Tiguan hit a child near Llantwit Major rugby club in Boverton Road, according to police.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 3pm and the child was taken to the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend.

South Wales Police said the child's injuries were non-life threatening. A spokesman for the force said: "South Wales Police is appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision involving a child and a car which occurred between 2.50pm and 3.10pm near Llantwit Major Rugby Club on Boverton Road.

"The vehicle involved was a grey Volkswagen Tiguan. We would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or sighted the vehicle who may have dash cam footage or who may be able to provide an account of the manner of driving prior to the incident."

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman added: "We were called at 3.12pm on Thursday, September 3, to a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

"We conveyed the patient to the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend."
